I have to qualify that this blog was started to document my feelings about having a child. So naturally it will be about her... my Iman. I am documenting anything and everything about Iman and my feelings towards her during each of the event so that Iman can read all about her growing up years. And also so that Iman can understand my exact feeling during each of the event and be reminded how much she is loved.. long after I am no longer here in this world.

Iman's Baby Pictures
The beginning of my blog....
I have been thinking of keeping a journal of my experience from the time I concieved Iman but I never get down to it. I thought of writing down every experience I went thru and everything that happened but life had been so hectic.
I was travelling from KL - JB - KL every week for the first 3 months I was pregnant. It was a miracle that I survived at all. Everybody was telling me to stop doing that coz I might lose my baby - being 39 at that time. Wished I could just stop working but I am too responsible to just abandon a project that just started. Who know I am going to be pregnant so soon after I stopped taking the contraceptive pills.
Anyway, life has to go on. I told myself and everyone that Allah knows best. If I get sick, then I might have to take things easy. But everything was OK, so I continue to work i.e travelling KL - JB - KL every week for the first 3 months!
The trouble only started when I was in my 3rd trimester. My blood pressure was up and it kept on going up even with medication. The whole body is swollen!! My feet are unbelievable! It was so swollen that I need slippers 2 sizes bigger than my normal size. We took pictures of my feet so that I can show Iman when she's older. Let her know how bad it was for me. He..he..he..
Izani was hospitalized due to dengue for 4 days. We spent Christmas Day of 2004 in Gleneagles Intan Hospital. It was quite an experience. What I did during his hospital stay was, to be in the hospital by 8:30 a.m., had breakfast with him, assist him to clean up and then spent the whole day watching tv, reading the papers and sleeping (we took turn to sleep on the bed while the other person had to sit at the visitor's chair). Mind u, I was already in my 8th month by that time. Whenever the nurse came to take his blood pressure measurement, I asked them to do so for me. My blood pressure never went down. It was expected, since the whole thing was very very stressful. I left Izani to go home by 9:30 p.m. every nite to ensure that I had proper sleep in my own bed. Come the next morning, the cycle started again. Was doing that for 4 days... lucky thing it was only for 4 days!!
26th Dec 2004 - We watched the tsunami reports on tv while waiting for the doctor to release him. It was great to finally go home. We continued to watch the reports about tsunami on TV. Here we were, thinking that it had been a horrible week for us, yet out there those people are suffering the loss of families, their houses and their lives. Made us value our lives more seeing those suffering. Being home had never been that great! I loved my small yet comfortable home!!
27th Dec 2004 - Went to Pusat Perubatan Naluri for a regular check-up. Dr. Zanariah has already warned me that I might have to deliver earlier than the EDD. Iman was supposed to be due on 17 Jan 2005!! Went into the examination room by myself coz Izani was still too weak. I let him sit outside and wait for me. Dr. Zana was alarmed to see the measurement of my blood pressure. She didn't want to wait any longer coz by then Iman's estimated weight was already 2.5 kg. It would be safe enough to deliver her by then. Dr. Zana told me that I need to deliver the same day.
What?! I was not ready to have the baby yet...... She told me that I had no other choice but to deliver on that day! Izani was shocked! He was not even well enough to take care of himself, now a baby was coming out?! Oh gosh!!! Requested to go home to pack up my stuff coz I didn't expect to be admitted yet. Was back at the hospital by 11 a.m.
It was indeed a weird experience.... there's no contraction or nothing of that sort, yet I'm supposed to be delivering my baby already?! They starved me up coz I'm due for C-section. Can't even drink water!! Then there I was all prepared waiting for the Anesthesiologist to give me the epidural jab. I was finally wheeled into the Operating Theater at 4:30 p.m. Iman was taken out of my tummy by 5:39 pm! That nite I missed her kicking in my tummy...

Now Iman is safely out of my tummy and she turned 1 year old 3 days ago!! How time flies when you are having fun, eh? I am so thankful that she survived 1 year of me taking care of her and of course which means I survived 1 year of lack of sleep and constant lack of rest! She 4 teeth at the top and 2 at the bottom now! She started her baby talk already and seems to be a very social baby.
Life with Iman in it is so unbelieveable. I couldn't imagine before having a baby and now I can't imagine my life without her. Whenever we sent her to the babysitter or to my mum coz we had something to do, the house felt so empty without her!! Everytime I think of the miracle she has brought into my life, I had tears in my eyes. I kept on asking myself, how can a tiny person like that change your life so much!! Now I understand what all mothers have been saying. I'm so thankful that Allah gave me the opportunity to experience all that eventhough it is already very late. The phrase "Better late than never" is really meaningful and true.
