Rio the Movie

Iman has been asking Mummy to bring her to watch Rio the Movie. Since Iman had an exam last week, we had to wait till the exam is over before Mummy can bring her. And Iman has been planning to ask her friend (bff) Fareeha to go along with us when we go for the movie.

In the end we decided to go for the movie on 23rd April, right after the exam is over. Mummy went to get the tickets first because it was Mummy's first time to watch movie in Wangsa Walk.

After much waiting in anticipation, 23rd April finally arrived and Iman was so excited to go. That's Iman and Fareehan waiting for the movie to start. Fareeha's mum was sitting new to Fareeha while Mummy sat next to Iman. The two girls were sandwiched by the mummies!

It was really a good movie. Mummy enjoyed it very much! Somehow Mummy think that it would have been nicer if we had watched the 3D movie because there many interesting moves that probably would be better in 3D.

What the movie is about: (Copied from Wikipedia - in case we forget what the movie is about later...)

In a jungle near Rio de Janeiro, a baby Spix's Macaw who is unable to fly and several other birds are captured by smugglers and taken toMoose Lake, Minnesota. The box containing the macaw falls to the street and is found by a girl named Linda (Leslie Mann), who names him "Blu". Fifteen years later, Linda lives in a bookstore with Blu (Jesse Eisenberg). TĂșlio (Rodrigo Santoro), a scientist, tells Linda that Blu is the last of his species, and he needs to mate with a female to preserve the species.

Linda takes Blu to Brazil, where Blu meets a female macaw named Jewel (Anne Hathaway). The shelter is raided by smugglers, who are let in by the lead smuggler's cockatoo, Nigel (Jemaine Clement). Among them is Fernando (Jake T. Austin), a poor boy who only helps the smugglers to earn some money. Blu and Jewel are captured and chained. Nigel explains that he used to be a performing bird on a television program, but was replaced by a parakeet. Because of this, he developed a hatred of exotic birds like Jewel, which is why he assists the smugglers in capturing such birds. After he departs, Blu and Jewel escape from confinement. As they flee, Nigel chases them through Rio, and Blu and Jewel get lost in the jungle.

They meet a family of toucans, whose father, Rafael (George Lopez), offers to take them to see his friend Luiz in removing the chain. Rafael attempts to teach Blu to fly, but Blu fails. The group meets a Red-crested Cardinal named Pedro (Will.i.am) and his canary friend Nico (Jamie Foxx). Meanwhile, Nigel enlists the aid of a group of thieving marmosets and their king Mauro (Brian Baumgartner), to find Blu and Jewel. Linda and Tulio also try to find Blu, assisted by the repentant Fernando. Pedro and Nico take Blu and Jewel to a bird's samba club, where Blu starts to dance, culminating in a duet with Jewel. They are then attacked by the marmosets, but their bird friends, including aRoseate Spoonbill they met at the samba club named Kipo (Bernardo de Paula) fend them off long enough for the four to escape.

Fernando leads Linda and Tulio to the smugglers hideout, where they learn the criminals plan to use Carnivale as a cover to regain Blu and Jewel and escape. The group finally meets the Bulldog Luiz (Tracy Morgan), who uses his drool to release Blu and Jewel from the chain. However, Jewel is captured by Nigel. When Pedro and Nico inform Blu of Jewel's capture, he decides to mount a rescue. Linda and Tulio make their way into Carnivale by posing as dancers, but Blu, Rafael, Nico, and Pedro are captured by Nigel. Linda and Tulio follow the smugglers, but are too late to stop them from taking off in their plane. During the flight, Blu manages to break out of his cage, and they all fly away except for Jewel, who knows Blu is scared of flying. Nigel grievously injures Jewel's wing. Blu manages to blast Nigel out of the plane by attaching a fire extinguisher to his leg, and hits the propeller.

Jewel, now flightless, is pushed out of the plane by a falling cage, and Blu follows her, much to her surprise. Blu is overcome by the rhythm of his heart, and flies, saving himself and Jewel. They return to Linda and Tulio, who attempts to tend to Jewel's hurt wing. Jewel is reluctant at first, but Blu convinces her to accept Tulio's help.

Sometime later, Linda and Tulio have organized the "Blu Bird Sanctuary", a part of Rio's jungle protected from smugglers. Blu and Linda remain very close, though she also has a relationship with Tulio, and is now living in Rio to help run the Blu Bird Sanctuary along with Fernando. Blu and Jewel are the parents of three chicks. The film ends with a lively sing and dance from their friends and family. Nigel survives his encounter, but has lost his feathers and is humiliated from Mauro, who is seen taking pictures and the smugglers are detained.

Abacus

Mummy was getting panicky when Iman decided to skip the math questions regarding abacus in her workbook. Iman told Mummy, "I don't remember how to do this. Let's skip this page first, ok?" And there Mummy was not able to help explain to Iman how to it coz Mummy never learn how to use the abacus as it was never included in the Mathematic syllabus during Mummy's time.

Mummy Googled the word abacus and found loads of information but the overwhelming information made Mummy even more panicky! Found  a local website that actually sold a workbook on how to use Abacus and even the Abacus itself! Mummy was so tempted to just order online. Mummy is willing to do anything and everything to ensure Mummy can teach Iman the Abacus topic. Mummy don't want Iman to lose mark in Iman's Math exam just because Iman doesn't know Abacus! Looking at the expected delivery date of the item, it would actually be too late to help Iman to handle Abacus question during this Ujian Formatif 2 on April 19 - 22. Scrap the idea of ordering online! Mummy have to do something realtime!

So, armed with very panic heart, Mummy went to the bookshop in AU2 to find a book on Abacus. Being a small bookshop somehow they don't sell reference book on Abacus, but they do have an Abacus! Mummy quickly grab the Abacus and a whole lot of books for Iman to do exercise from tonight till the exam days. Mummy felt like a mad woman going through the shop looking and grabbing anything that seemed suitable to assist Iman in doing her revision to prepare for the exam. Somehow at a very far corner of Mummy's heart, Mummy saw the comedy in Mummy's reaction. But Mummy want the best for Iman and Mummy don't care about being silly and uncool mum at that very moment.

Mummy came home with the Abacus but still don't know how to use it. So quickly Googled for a YouTube on how to use it. Thank God for Internet. It has anything!

Here's the YouTube on how to use the Abacus. Mummy will refer to this and get Iman to learn this together with Mummy:

Iman the youngest in one family and the only child in another family...

If you’re an only child...

You’re a rock-solid citizen — and a sweetie. “Only children are super-reliable,” Dr. Leman says. “They’re like oldest children taken to the extreme.” Growing up with only adults made you into a little grown-up early on — meaning you’re serious and dependable. You’re the rare person who will stay up half the night helping a friend or partner prep for a licensing exam or a big work presentation. You’re the type to move your partner’s car so he or she doesn’t get a ticket. Punctual and true to your word, onlies like you never leave a loved one waiting for a call or email. And you’re articulate, too, so your date can expect great conversations that really make a person think.

If you’re a youngest child...

You’re all about fun. The most outgoing of all in the birth order spectrum, youngest children live to have a good time (it may be because your parents were more laid-back by the time you came along). On a typical first date you’ll have your date laughing so hard that water shoots out his or her nose. In fact, “most famous comedians are youngest children,” says Dr. Leman. A partial list of famous examples: Jon Stewart, Jim Carrey, Ellen DeGeneres, Steve Martin and Eddie Murphy. And forget ho-hum plans like dinner and a movie; you love to do the unexpected, often on the spur of the moment. You’re the type to take someone to a party only to whisper, “Let’s get out of here” two minutes later... and then convince your date to take a road trip to Atlantic City or Vegas for the weekend.

Somehow both observations are quite right about Iman.

Iman lost her first baby teeth in a day!

Iman's baby teeth have been giving indication that they are coming off soon. And two permanent teeth have started to grow behind that 2 baby teeth. Mummy told Ayah that we need to bring Iman to the dentist to remove the baby teeth so that can give way to the 2 permanent teeth that are growing. Ayah insisted that he can be the 'dentist' and we shouldn't bother to spend money going to an actual dentist.

As Mummy was driving home on Friday 8th April, Ayah messaged Mummy and told about the teeth seemed to coming out already. Mummy suggested to Ayah that Mummy would come home first to witness the scene of Ayah pretending to be a dentist before going to buy dinner. Ayah told Mummy to go and get dinner. Reluctantly Mummy went and was so sad when Ayah sent a message to say that both of Iman's baby teeth were out already. Mummy wish that Mummy was there to video tape the whole thing. It was such a milestone of Iman's life! Losing her first baby tooth! And she lost both at the same time.

All Mummy got to see was the picture:

And two baby teeth! And those 2 teeth are now placed in a safe place waiting for other baby teeth to join them later.

Mummy told Iman that those were her two first baby teeth to grow. So Iman said, "They were the oldest teeth! That's why they have to leave first!" Her logic makes sense! Ha ha ha...

Now Iman is no longer afraid to lose anymore teeth... In fact she is proud that she has 2 permanent teeth already! What a positive way to see it!

    • Aimy Bazura Mohamed Thanks, Yeanny and Aida.. She likes writing .. ada a few "notebooks". Whenever kita orang nak gi somewhere usually dia bawak at least one of them so that she can write stuff. Masa tu dia akan reka sendiri apa dia nak tulis and asks us how to spell some of those words yang dia fikir dia nak write tapi x tau eja. I consider that is another way of learning too.. learn to spell, to write and to use her imagination to come up with stuff she wants to write.
