The quest for a pink car

Iman and Mummy had this conversation a few months back before Iman started Standard 1.

Iman: Mummy, how long do I have to go Cik Han's (Iman's aunty who is a teacher in SKS) school?

Mummy: 6 years.

Iman: What? So long? After that I go to college?

Mummy: No... after that you will go to Mummy's school - Secondary School.

Iman: Oh man! How long do I go to your school, Mummy?

Mummy: You will be there for 5 years!

Iman: Oh man! So 11 more years before I go to college?

Mummy: Yes! 11 more years! (in my heart I was amazed how fast Iman did the math to calculate how long it will be before she goes to college).

Iman: Can I drive when I go to college?

Mummy: Yes, you can drive when you are in college. You need to get driving license first.

Iman: Can I drive a pink car?

Mummy: Of course you can drive a pink car. (realised that Mummy shouldn't have answered too quickly but since the conversation was held just before Iman started her Standard 1 and Mummy didn't want to upset her, Mummy thought we should just leave it as it is for the time being.)

A few days later, Mummy decided to talk to Iman about the pink car.

Mummy: Iman, if Mummy and Ayah buy you a car when you go to college, then you just have to accept whatever colour car that we give you, ok?

Iman: I can't drive a pink car?

Mummy: If you buy the car with your own money, then you can drive a pink car!

Iman: Really?

Mummy: Yup! Really.

Since then Iman has been keeping RM2 everyday from her daily pocket money for the fund towards buying her own car. It was amazing to see how motivated and determined Iman is about making sure she save the money for that fund to buy her own car.

Iman: Mummy, do you think I can buy my own car?

Mummy: I'm sure you can if you continue to save your money from now.
(was so touched to see her determination).

When the boys from her group kept going to the canteen to buy stuff, Iman's comment was: "The boys just like to spend money! They don't know how to save their money, Mummy!"

Mummy got rather worried in case Iman felt that she had to save her money all the time, so Mummy said "Iman, if you are hungry or thirsty, you can go to the canteen and buy, ok? You don't have to save your money."

Iman said "It's ok. I don't need to buy drinks because I already have my water and I don't have to buy food because I have my bread!"

Mummy just have to see how long this determination to save money will go on. Deep in Mummy's heart, Mummy is very proud of Iman for being so visionary about wanting to drive the pink car in college. Most kids at her age do not even know about college, let alone wanting to go to college. Mummy hope Mummy can continue to nurture Iman to be a mature and wholesome kid.

Iman, I am very proud of you, darling!

Iman resisting sleep

Mummy thot it was so funny that when it was time for Iman to sleep, she claimed that she can't sleep coz her eyes were already sleepy but her mouth was still not sleepy. She keep chatting and telling that is always worried about school. When Mummy asked Iman what was it that Iman was worried about, Iman said that she wondered why she have to carry so much stuff to school - books, colour pencils, and water colour. Mummy told her that all kids have to go through that. In fact Iman was lucky coz the school has made arrangement to let all the Standard 1 kids to leave their exercise books and activity books in school. All Iman has to bring are the textbooks. She always get upset when she thinks she is loosing in the discussion. She finally said "Don't get me start talking again!" And in less than 2 minutes, she finally fall asleep. Mummy couldn't help but laughed to see that.

What Mummy is worried about is Iman always being worried about everything. Mummy wish Iman will try to relax more like other kids.

A Mother's Worry Never Ends

We worry from the time we conceive.
Will they make it to trimester three?

We worry about when they were born
Are their  limbs normally shaped and complete?
Can their eyes see and their ears hear?

We worry about how much they drink and eat
and even when they poop and pee.

We worry when they take their first steps
Will they be strong to also run and jump?

We worry when they stumble and fall,
at all the scratches, bumps and bruised knees.

We worry about all the teeth that must come free
and if they will need Orthodontistry.

We worry when they seek friendship
Oh..will friends walk hand in hand?

We worry if they will excel the class,
from their first day of school until their last.

We worry when sickness afflict
Dear ALLAH, bring them back to health
and trade ours with theirs if the way is none other.

We worry about them going off to college
and if we have given them enough knowledge.

We worry when tears well up in their eyes spilling down their cheeks,
wishing we can shield them from all misery

We worry when they venture away on their own,
and will not rest till they come home safe and sound.

We worry when they ask to ride on a motorbike
no, no, no... i dont want you to be hurt beyond repair

We worry for them when their hearts break
and for the scar that might never heal.

We worry for them on their wedding day,
may the love they share never fade.

We worry for them when their baby comes
now their worrying has just begun.

You see.... A Mother's worry never ends.
It just evolves and grows and starts again
Forever & Always..

Mummy thot the poem is so nice and very fitting with how Mummy feels. This was written by Mummy's friend, Aunty Yet (hope Iman get to meet her one day) and she has graciously allowed Mummy to put this poem here for Iman to read. Hope one day you will understand this and will cherish the love that I always have for you. Love you, Iman!!

If your average score for any intelligence is above three, you’re probably using that intelligence quite often to help you learn. After resting for almost 1/2 hour, Mummy and Ayah thought of going to see the Camera, Lights and Action show. The usherer told us that we should miss this show and explained that kids like Iman would be ok to go for this show. However, our darling Iman was just adamant that we should not go to see the show. So, Mummy asked Ayah to go while Mummy walk around outside to accompany Iman.

Iman became very very moody and Mummy almost loose Mummy's temper. Just to handle it, Mummy focus on taking pictures:

There was this shop that displayed lots of fancy looking hats and everybody stopped by to try the hats and take pictures. So Mummy decided to join them:
